Why You Should Go To The Chiropractor

Have you ever wondered why you should go to the chiropractor?

You do a quick overview of your body and you're like "well, I don't have any back pain".

**TIME OUT**

Quick question...If I were to ask you why you should go to the dentist, would you have a similar response? *well, I don't have any cavities*

Doubt it. (I do know some of you all have that mindset, but it doesn't make it right).

We routinely go to the dentist, starting at young age, to ensure that we are getting checked to check the health of our teeth and gums.

We go to PREVENT the appearance of cavities, gum disease, or tooth decay.

So...you're telling me you go to the dentist even when you don't necessarily have a problem with your teeth, gums, and have no pain?

Oh ok...just checking.

**TIME IN** (Back to why you should go to the chiropractor)

Let's turn back the hands of time for a second...

At some point, more than likely when you were in the growth stage of your life, you may have done something that caused a minor shift in your spine.

As kids and teenagers, we are generally active and typically tend to bounce back from injuries - or so we think.   More often than not, those 'little' injuries have left behind minor shifts or displacements. If those minor shifts or displacements are not corrected, they eventually progress - usually without pain until later in life. You may have heard the expression, 'As the twig is bent, so grows the tree,' - well, if you think about that expression, it contains a lot of truth.

Still skeptical?  Ok, Let me give it another try...

How often do you find yourself flexing your neck forward to read a text? Check your social media post? or change a music selection?

Perhaps, at your job you find yourself being extremely sedentary (ie. you sit A LOT).

These repetitive stresses/traumas progressively shift your spine out of alignment - thus leading to a large variety of problems.

Think about it like this; If you drive your brand new vehicle down a road that has potholes that are like sinkholes, day after day, there's a good chance that I could do some damage to the frame, right?

Do you think that frame damage could cause secondary problems like asymmetrical wear on your tires....rattling inside the car...the car pulling toward one direction, etc.?

It's no different when thinking about the spine. We do things over and over again that challenge our spines.

Those disruptions lead to SHIFTS/DISPLACEMENTS, and those displacements lead to a series of secondary problems that include (but not limited to) sciatica, migraine headaches, low back pain, neck pain, herniated discs, or pinched nerves.
